Parenthood I think is entirely reasonable because Harry’s parents were killed and he had to find characteristics of parents in other characters as he grew up in the wizarding world, it would make sense that he wouldn’t have a concrete person from which he could completely base his parenting skills. Moving on to discussing the actual themes of this arc, the focus is mainly on the topics of parenthood and time travel. Please, pretty please with pumpkin pasties on top, please! *cough*)

There’s none of Rowling’s imagery or any of the films’ special effects to set our hearts aflutter, which I can only assume is brought to life by the play recently premiered in London. I don’t think that it is a badly written “book,” simply because it’s meant to be a script. It feels like Rowling, Thorne and Tiffany took the safe route when they were putting together this story because it is based and built off the framework of a successful storyline while putting in parenthood and relationship moments. Another part of the reason why I love the book is because I grew up with the original Harry Potter series and films, so to read what is pretty much a longer, roundabout epilogue of what our hero is up to when he has children tugs at the heartstrings. To play devil’s advocate, part of the reason why I love the book is because I loved Goblet of Fire. Everything had a sense of school pride to it from the Triwizard Tournaments story arc that just made so much sense from a universe that had magical schools.Įven though I was excited that these two books were intertwined to create this story, it definitely is a pretty strong point wh en readers cry that it seems more like a fanfiction than an actual separate arc. My first favorite happens to be the other book that intertwines with t he “Cursed Child” plot, and that is the 4th installment, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Part of the reason for my excitement was because Hermione playing with time travel in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was the reason why that book was my second favorite out of the series. Wands at the ready? Diving into actual thoughts of the book! The bigger themes were parenthood and time travel, which I was really excited about. From here on out, I’ll be discussing spoilers, so if you don’t want the book to be spoiled, go read the book first! It can feel a bit fanfiction-y at times and definitely taps into that nostalgia factor, which seems to be super trendy lately, but those are honestly pretty minor gripes compared to how I feel about it overall. It’s a rather short read compared to its previous successors, and I enjoyed every moment of it. All right Potterheads!
